I have to add that my memories of baseball center around my brothers’ games. My younger brother played baseball for many LONG, boring seasons! Haha! For me, my memory of baseball is forever attached to headaches.

Ouch. I watched plenty of those players' siblings getting toted around, not by choice. So, so long. I don't know how I endured those games, really. I'm sure my mind floated away to a vision of myself off writing instead!

Such a poignant piece. I chuckled out loud; I tested up. The last two paragraphs …❤️

Wow Annette. I love this writing and I found the 2001 writing just as wonderful. It was a tie, without extra innings. I taught my grandsons left from right using the baseball diamond, just like you did!!!

Another favorite and teachable moment is when I taught them to choke up on the wooden spoon like it was baseball bat. They were amazed at the difference!!! Love you.

The wooden spoon is always in play! Sometimes I look back and wonder how my heart led me those words. I can hardly remember! Well, the Pirates beat the Reds, a sure sign of the apocalypse!

I love reading about your memories! “Wick the Stick” made me laugh out loud! These family traditions create such a strong bond. I’m sure Davis will always remember backyard baseball season!

He and his buddies still talk about it! One of them came to his wedding!

Here is HHI now reading your opening day. Yes growing up big Reds fan as our family were big fans. I too went to opening game. In high school I had to leave for the opening of the Reds. At my first job took a day of vacation. It was traditional to be there for opening. But for you still continuing so love it. Go REDS. ⚾️⚾️

Have have wonderful day. Love ❤️ Cookie.
