Yes! I’ve been on the same wheel spinning fast and recently have been pulled to a quote by Ghandi that said “there’s more to life than increasing its speed”. I’m also the lookout for ruts and trenches and for slowing my speed, steering into sweet spots!! Beautiful Annette!

The cookies!! I love reading your food descriptions and how food is not only cultural heritage but a way of expressing love. Brava!

You made me think of what our "sweet spot" would be this year and I am going to write about that, and when I do I will share it, but only with you, Dear Heart.

THANK YOU, Annette, for this feast of flavor. And for reflecting on the ever-present management of time and writer-energy and desire-to-do, alongside the need to follow Thich that Hanh's good advice to savor the present. Cookie-baking with my nieces this Christmas yielded treasured moments and memories, though we each missed my sister whose recipes we turned into pleasure. And at the rich and ripe age of (gasp) 80, I am still able to avoid the rut of the ordinary. Gracias! Kathy

LOVED this! Thanks so much, Annette! My last rose is gone. But there are 5 cookies and three truffles (from Miel Bon Bons in Durham NC, a local hand-crafted confectionary, not to be missed!) left. I'll savor them one bite at a time!
