I cried at the scene of your sister clapping for you the whole length of the hallway!! Loved this post!

I love these food stories! I will live vicariously through you. My home had good food but a bad relationship with eating. ❤️

You weren't alone in that either. We all struggled in our own way. Maybe that too is representative of what food meant to us, and the person serving it to us.

Thank you for taking me along on this journey. I also love the photos. I've been visualizing your sister for so many years, it's lovely to see her 'in person.'

Thank you for sharing that Kathy. You've heard in words so much of the story. And yet, it seems to be "the story I can never get right." She is beautiful, and looks plenty like my mother, and my niece resembles them both. So, I have in her their reincarnation.

Once again, it's as if you are writing about parts of my life. And once again, you inspire me to write. The Latinx children and families I work with daily tell stories that could be ours too. The common factor almost always comes back to food. Thanks for another wonderful piece.

It's how we were raised, right? I'll have send some old photos I found while doing more research! I hope this continues to inspire. The daughter of my college besties is an OT at a Durham public school. I gave her your name, but I'll have to find what school she works with!
